We were asked to design a new 10MWe gas fuelled grid-tied power station on a brown-field site within a compressed time frame.
The finished installation had to meet all relevant UK Legislation in addition to meeting all the requirements of the local gas and electricity Distribution Network Operators.
After all necessary consultations to secure a lease and planning permission We produced a fully compliant design for our client to include all civils, mechanical and electrical elements.
With only one point of contact for our client we were able to supply them with a fully designed installation which was constructed and commissioned without issue.
We were asked to design a CHP system for the British Antarctic Survey's Rothera facility.
In addition to potential operation at very low ambient temperatures the system had to integrate with the new building/water heating systems and fuel supply systems. We also had to design the system around pre-ordered standard generating sets, that required a bespoke cooling system to be added in order to capture and re-use some waste heat.
Despite the challenging constraints of the site and leveraging our deep engine performance and fluid dynamics expertise, we designed fully integrated cooling system and heat transfer network to perform within the required building criteria.
The system was pre-assembled in Scotland prior to its long journey to the South Pole on the Sir David Attenborough. The system passed all pre-shipment validation and witness testing and performed as it should.
We were asked by a large construction contractor. to perform an occupational noise survey with a live high voltage electricity transmission facility.
The contractor had been tasked to complete works in the immediate vicinity of a large power transmission transformer and reactors. When operational it was reported that noise levels from this plant was high. The contractor was acting upon their obligation to provide a safe environment for their workers.
A noise survey was carried out on site by NOxTech taking all necessary health and safety precautions when working in a live high voltage facility.
The resulting report was presented to the client, who could then proceed with the works taking into account all recommendations that were presented.
